DANZIG Counseling Services was founded to help people fulfill their aspirations for personal growth and development. In being true to our mission, in addition to offering counseling and consultation services to clientele, we also offer guest speaking services to schools and organizations as well as opportunities for continuing education to other practitioners.
DANZIG Counseling was a robust practice between 2004 thru 2015 at which time Steve was offered a position in management at a newly branded residential treatment center in New Hampshire. He remained there for 18 months and due to family being back in Maine he decided to return to the area to have a better focus on family as his children were entering their teenage years.
DANZIG Counseling was not reopened; however, Steve continues to work with families nationwide on interventions, consulting, transportations to and from treatment.
Although DANZIG Counseling Services is permanently closed, Steve knows numerous clinicians and can make a referral if desired.
Please explore Steve's website and feel free to contact him any time via phone or email with any questions regarding his services.
We all know someone who is struggling with problems caused by alcohol and/or drug use. At one time there was a belief that people could not be helped unless they “hit bottom” but that has changed. Interventions have shown that an individual confronted in such a way may finally be willing to seek treatment without having to “hit their bottom” first. Interventions also help to heal the user’s loved ones who participate in them.
Drug and Alcohol Interventions
We all know someone who is struggling with problems caused by alcohol and/or drug use. At one time there was a belief that people could not be helped unless they “hit bottom” but that has changed. Interventions have shown that an individual confronted in such a way may finally be willing to seek treatment without having to “hit their bottom” first. Interventions also help to heal the user’s loved ones who participate in them.
What is an intervention? An intervention is a loving process where family and friends confront the alcohol/drug user in a non-threatening way about their self-destructive behavior with the ultimate goal of having that person accept help for their problem by entering a treatment center.
Why it is necessary to have an intervention? In short, because nothing else has worked. Begging, threatening, reasoning and deal making by family and friends rarely produce change in someone engaged in self-destructive behaviors. In fact, oftentimes loved ones have been unwittingly enabling the user by working against each other. On the other hand, an intervention facilitated by DANZIG Interventions in a controlled way that includes people who are meaningful to the user, can be highly effective in helping both the user and their family and friends begin to heal and to change.
How does an intervention work? An intervention unifies the family and gets everyone working together. It uses the power of love and concern to break through the user’s denial so that they will accept help. The keys to having a successful intervention are planning, preparation and technique. The intervention process involves having family and friends gather to discuss the details with DANZIG Interventions. And together we will decide what form the intervention will take, identify who should be included in the intervention, decide upon the best education and treatment plans, develop an intervention plan and schedule, and then execute the plans.
Sober Escorts
Escorts are often a vital component to the treatment and recovery process. Going to treatment can be an overwhelming endeavor for many people. DANZIG Interventions takes the fear and mystery out of the experience – both for the loved one and for the client. We are trained experts in the field of alcohol/substance abuse counseling, treatment, and recovery. So while we are escorting your loved one to their treatment facility, we are able to answer any of their questions, relieve their anxiety, and provide emotional support and encouragement. DANZIG Interventions will make all travel arrangements and will coordinate the trip with the treatment facility to ensure that your loved one reaches their destination. To lessen the stress on the family, we stay in constant contact with both the family and the treatment center throughout the entire trip. Once the trip has been completed and your loved one is safely with the treatment center,DANZIG Interventions will call the family to discuss the trip in detail.
Coming home from treatment poses its own challenges. Now that your loved one has left the safe haven of the treatment facility, there are many temptations that can lead to an instant relapse. DANZIG Interventions provides you with the peace of mind that your loved one won’t have to face those temptations alone on their journey home from rehab. We are addiction specialists trained in relapse prevention and will be with them providing support every step of the way.
All escorts are door to door service. DANZIG Interventions provides escort services to/from treatment, home, or a continuing care facility.
Treatment Consulting
There are many excellent treatments centers to choose from. DANZIG Interventions will help you choose the program that best fits your needs. We consider age, gender, previous treatment experience, mental health, medical issues, location, and family resources. DANZIG Interventions works with many different treatment programs all across the country. However, because we are independent from those programs and receive no benefit from our referrals, you can be assured that you are getting the best treatment recommendation for you or your loved one.
For clients requiring more specialized treatment options (such as people in high profile professions, individuals suffering from dual-diagnosis issues, or impaired medical professionals), DANZIG Interventions has relationships with treatment centers that specifically cater to these unique situations. We fully understand that for the recovery process to be successful, the client must be properly matched to a facility that provides the requisite expertise and level of care for their situation.
For clients needing extended support after they leave in-patient treatment, DANZIG Interventions can refer you to a sober living housing program.
